Outsider Art encourages your participation as collectively we create a beautiful work during the picnic. Join us from 4pm to 8pm. All are welcome and together we will make a 10' by 6' banner that will feature an over stuffed picnic basket painted in the middle, leaves printed and traced around that, and on the border we will all sign our artwork. We will be using acrylic paints with brushes and rollers, providing aprons and will have markers for our signatures. Our unique 2008 banner will be permanently hung in the Whatever Works Art Space, and can be brought out at other picnics.
Outsider Art is actually a term for artwork by someone with no art training or outside of traditional art circles. We will broaden the concept for the Great Granville Picnic to include everyone there, of any and all ages, and with any and all abilities. Even people with some art training can join in! And we will take advantage of being outside by collecting some leaves from our town to print and trace on our artwork.
We will also have some special canvases that turn blue with water, so that young artists can stand at the easels and paint.
Drop by the Outsider Art area anytime between 4-8 and add to the banner. In fact, you may want to come back several times and see the progress.
